Continental to join Star Alliance this autumn

What happens with Continental Corporate One Pass Membership?
Mileage Accrual – Continental Airlines OnePass members can continue to earn miles on Skyteam partners until the last scheduled flight on 24 October 2009. After this date, mileage accrual will no longer be available on Skyteam carriers.
Mileage Redemption – Continental Airlines OnePass members may continue to book and ticket travel on Skyteam partners up to 24 October 2009. All reward travel on Skyteam partners must be completed on or before 24 October 2010.
Corporate clients of CTM who have been using Skyteam partners frequent flyer programs to enjoy the benefits of Continental Airlines Onepass membership may wish to consider joining their OnePass frequent flyer programme before 24 October 2009.
The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has approved the application for Continental to join the existing antitrust immunised alliance including United Airlines and eight other Star Alliance member carriers.
Continental’s transition from SkyTeam to Star Alliance was originally announced in June 2008. It is a strategic change that will enhance travel options and competition. Continental’s network will have a distinct fit in Star Alliance, with its New York hub at Newark Liberty International Airport playing a particularly important role for Star Alliance travellers.
Continental plans to join Star Alliance on 27 October 2009 and intends to end its participation in the SkyTeam Alliance after its last scheduled flight on 24 October 2009.
Continental's OnePass members do not need to make any changes to their OnePass accounts. Mileage balances will not be affected by the transition
