The Co-operative Travel Management News

The Co-operative Group has been providing high quality products and services for over 100 years – and we’re proud to be part of it.

Our members run our business – not shareholders or financial investors. We believe in our core ethical values of honesty, openness and social responsibility, and reinvest our profits into our businesses and the communities we serve.  In 2007, we had a group turnover of £9.4 billion – and our 85,000 employees served around 10 million customers every week through our family of businesses, which includes travel, pharmacy, food, funeral care and financial services.

In line with The Co-operative Group, The Co-operative Travel Management officially launched its new brand earlier this year.    With a nationwide network of branches we are one of the top 10 travel management companies in the UK.

Throughout all our travel management services corporate and social responsibility is fundamental to what we do.  We have been committed to ethical trading since 1844 and have been voted the UK’s most ethical brand for the second year running.

The Co-operative is currently in the midst of the largest re-branding exercise in UK corporate history.

Bob Dylan has allowed his iconic “Blowin’ in the Wind” to form the soundtrack to the The Co-operative commercial which has been shown on TV and Cinemas since February.

Chief Executive Peter Marks said:”We believe there has never been a better time for the UK’s most ethical brand to promote itself.

“That is why we believe this is exactly the right time to launch this high profile campaign which spells out how, when the benefits are passed around, The Co-operative is good for everyone.”

Last year the group polled its members so they could help it to decide the causes and campaigns that will be supported by The Co-operative.

Following this consultation three themes have emerged which will be the focus of the Group’s community and campaigns work: Young People, Climate Change and International Development, all of which will be backed by £1m campaigns this year.  In the UK this will include everything from community-owned hydroelectric schemes to co-operative trust schools. Further afield, agricultural supply co-operatives will be supported so that small-scale growers can secure better prices and working conditions.
