SWISS update

New SWISS Route London Heathrow – Geneva 6 times daily

SWISS re-introduced its service on the London Heathrow – Geneva route on 10th January 2010. The new 6 daily service is operated by two aircraft from the Airbus A320 family. In an initial phase, one of these will be operated by bmi, their new sister airline within the Lufthansa Group, on behalf of SWISS and operated as a wet lease. Later, however, SWISS will operate all these Geneva services with its own equipment. From London City SWISS has slightly modified its daily capacity to Geneva by offering 4 daily frequencies.

As well as meeting increased demand for travel options from Heathrow to Geneva, the new route offers travellers the following benefits:

  • competitive fares and full combinability between London City and London Heathrow to and from Switzerland on one ticket
  • brand new Star Alliance and bmi lounges at SWISS’ new Heathrow base in Terminal 1, plus a fast-track option
  • recently upgraded SWISS facilities at Geneva airport, including new First, Business class and Senator lounges
  • possibility to earn and redeem miles on all Star Alliance partners through Miles & More – Europe’s largest frequent flyer programme
  • transport of the traveller’s first set of skis/snowboard and boots free of charge

SWISS increase capacity Manchester – Zurich

Due to business growth and demand, SWISS is increasing capacity on its Manchester to Zurich service. As of 3rd May 2010, SWISS will operate its 3 daily service with larger aircraft within the Airbus A320 family.

A further change in Manchester is that SWISS has moved its check-in location from the ground level to the main check-in floor at Manchester Airport Terminal 1.

SWISS Mobile Check In

SWISS now offers a new electronic check-in service in the form of a mobile boarding pass that can be sent to your internet-enabled mobile telephone. The service allows travellers to check in on the way to the airport and avoid queues. SWISS mobile check-in can be used between 23 hours and 1 hour before departure. The mobile boarding pass consists of a barcode and text of the key information relevant to your flight. It is valid at baggage drop locations, document check points, duty free shops and at aircraft boarding.

The service is now available at all SWISS airports in the UK (London Heathrow, London City, Manchester and Birmingham) and Switzerland (Zurich, Geneva and Basel).
