Charity of the Year
In October and November 2006, over 92,000 members and employees voted to nominate the 2007 Charity of the Year. The Children’s Society, in partnership with Aberlour in Scotland, Extern in Northern Ireland, and Tros Gynnal in Wales, emerged as the winning charity.
The partnership, is seeking to raise over £1m. The Children’s Society, and its partners, continue to support more than 60,000 children in local projects, including young runaways, children in trouble with the law, disabled children and child refugees.
The Group’s previous Charity of the Year, Shelter, was presented with a cheque for £1m in January 2006.
During the course of 2007, we raised £2.9 million for our charities of the year, The Children’s Society and Diabetes UK. Providing vital support for communities and demonstrating our co-operative difference of caring for others.
