Insurance questions
Passengers who flights have been delayed or cancelled due to the volcanic dust have according to Trading Standards Institute have some rights under the Regulation 261/2004 Air Passenger Rights.
Passengers are to a refund or re-routing if the flight is cancelled or delayed by more than five hours. If a re-routing is offered from a different location, the airline must cover the cost of any transfers.
If your flights are delayed by more that two hours you are entitled to meals and hotel accommodation as well as transfers between the airport and hotel.
In cases like this which are beyond the airlines control, passengers are not entitled to further compensation.
You should also check your own travel insurance as you might be entitled to more under your individual policies.
If you need any further information regarding the above, please contact your usual branch of The Co-operative Travel Management.
